I was honored to be part of resolving this significant eminent domain taking. When the FDOT provided notice of the taking it created a lot of uncertainties for all the parties involved. Not handled correctly, those type of uncertainties can steer cases into an adversarial posture, taking years to resolve and creating a lot of risk. We developed a strategy that aligned everyone’s interest quickly resulting in fair compensation to the property owners, but did so in less than 6 months which is remarkable given the size of the transaction. By reaching agreement quickly, our clients were able to obtain certainty and focus on their future business interests – something that had as much value as the overall award. Very proud of this outcome and grateful for the opportunity to work with everyone involved in the FDOT taking. If you have a question about eminent domain or would like to know about future road projects, please reach out.
